Magsar Vad 9 - Utsav of Shri Vitthalnathji (Shri Gusaiji)
JEEV DAYA
The royal executive of king of Bengal named Narayanadas, became a devotee of Shri Vitthaleshji. Once a vaishnav who was guilty, was beaten severely
with cane by Narayandas. Shri Vitthaleshji said, 'Being a vaishnav, you have committed a great sin.' Shri Narayanadas replied,'O, Gracious God, I did not
know that he was a vaishnav.' Shri Gusaiji replied, 'You didn't knew that he was a vaishnav but didn't you know that he was a human being ?. God
resides in the innermost part of the heart of every living being. Always remain compassionate and keep sympathy for all living beings and animals.
Never offend the feelings of any one by mind, speech or action.'
Shri Gusaiji - always above Cast, Creed and religion
Once Shri Vitthalnathji was travelling from Shrimad Gokul to Shri Girirajji. On the way he saw a kunjari bai lying on the road side. Shri Gusaiji who was
kindness personified, ordered his khawas to inquire as to what the matter was. On returning the khawas replied that the woman was thirsty and there
was no sources of water like well, pond or river nearby. No one was ready to help her.
Shri Gusaijis benevolent gaze fell upon her. Seeing a kind gaze, the woman by a gesture of her hand asked Shri Gusaiji to help her. Shri Gusaiji ordered
his khawas to give her water from the Jhaariji that the khawas was carrying for Shri Gusaiji.
The khawas protested saying, 'Sone ki Jhaariji Choo jaaegi, Krupanath'. To this Shri Vitthal replied, 'Jhari to doosri aa jaegi, parantu, tan se niklaa praan
phir nahi aaega'. The khawas then poured the water from the Jhaariji into the ladies' mouth. She drank the water till her hearts content and turned
towards Shri Gusaiji and gestured thankfully with her eyes.
Since she drank the prasadi jal (water) her mind and thoughts became sin free and, by the grace of Shri Gusaiji, turned piously towards Shriji.
From that day onwards she used to send best quality vegetables which she used for selling(she being a vegetable vendor) for Shriji's Seva which after
paying the necessary amount of rupees(after reducing a small amount as discount on her insistence) was accepted by Shri Gusaiji for Shriji's Seva. This
incident proves that Shri Gusaiji is Kindness Personified and is always above all caste, creed and religion.
Never Say a Lie
Once upon a time, a thief was packing a bundle of items of theft. He was not able to place it on his head. Shri Vitthalnathji was awake. Shri Gusaiji asked
him, 'Who are You'. He replied, 'I am thief, but I am compelled to commit theft for the sake of maintenance of my family members.' By the honesty of
the thief, Shri Vitthalesh said, what he was doing is wrong and advised the thief to maintain his honesty and never say a lie. The thief vowed not to tell a
lie.
Later on, the thief was caught stealing at the kings palace. The king caught him and asked, 'Who are you'. Without fearing the thief told the truth that he
was a thief but was compelled to commit theft for the sake of maintenance of his family members. By this honesty of the thief, the king asked him that
how without fear he could tell the truth. The thief narrated the whole episode of Vitthaleshji. Hearing this the king thought that he is honest and man of
words but is stealing because he is poor and cannot maintain his family well. So, the king made him the Deewaan of his kingdom because of his honesty.
Varta of Roop Muraridas
A Rajput named Roop Muraridas working as the head of the kitchen under King Akbar, killed many living animals and undertook violent activities. Shri
Gusaiji caused liberation of that Rajput and said, 'God always pardons all the sins of the sinner provided the sinner repents sincerely' Rajput accepted
his self-surrender and dedication and decided not to indulge in violent activities by killing animals.
There are many more varta and prasang like this which tells us why Shri Vitthalraiji Prabhucharan is merciful - Paramdayalu.
So, these episodes portray Shri Vitthalnathjis kindness towards living beings.
